Exhibition | This is where Montreal was founded

The Pointe-à-Callière Museum pays a heartfelt tribute to Paul de Chomedey de Maisonneuve and Jeanne Mance in the exhibition *This is where Montreal was founded*.

The tour takes visitors across a glass floor overlooking the remains of the Fort de Ville-Marie, which were uncovered during various archaeological excavation campaigns carried out by the Museum between 2002 and 2015. Visitors can see traces of an Indigenous hearth, a well, the cellar of a building that may have been a guardhouse, the fort’s palisades, the stone foundations of a workshop linked to metalworking, and a section of the stone wall of the Château de Callière. In addition, numerous artefacts found during the excavations are also on display.
