Life in the extremes
Asia is a remarkable continent, with a vast territory spanning nearly ten thousand kilometres, where immense deserts, dizzying mountain peaks and seas teeming with life coexist. In these sometimes extreme environments, wildlife displays astonishing adaptations, transforming inhospitable landscapes into veritable sanctuaries.
Wild Asia takes us on a journey that begins in the warm waters of the Indian Ocean, crosses the mountains and deserts of Central Asia, heads northwards to the frozen lands, and ends in the tropical archipelagos of the Pacific. This journey reveals a gallery of remarkable animals: a family of sperm whales gliding towards the depths, a cunning Tibetan fox prowling amongst the yaks on the plateau, the elusive red panda nestled in the forests of the Himalayas, and the long-eared jerboa leaping across the Gobi Desert. In Japan, tiny long-tailed tits feed on strange stalactites of sap, whilst the Pacific reefs reveal the delicate — yet formidable — ‘sea rabbit’ and a feeding frenzy of sharks never before filmed.
