Today, due to the relentless increase in light pollution, this experience is becoming increasingly rare: the night is on the verge of disappearing.
As well as restricting access to the starry sky, the increase in artificial night-time lighting also poses a significant and often underestimated conservation challenge. Light pollution affects the integrity of nocturnal ecosystems and disrupts human metabolism: life needs the night.
Mont-Mégantic National Park offers this free, ‘public-facing’ activity focusing on astronomy and the joy of gazing at the starry sky.
