Science Cabaret | Don’t take the bait: understanding and demystifying cybersecurity and fraud (In French)

Online fraud and cyberattacks are becoming increasingly common and can affect anyone. What role does cybersecurity play in preventing fraud? How do fraudsters exploit digital technologies? What are the most common risks and how can you recognise them? This talk focuses on prevention and the best practices to adopt to protect your personal information and assets. Using real-life examples, you will discover how to apply simple measures in your daily life to browse the internet more safely, reduce risks and respond effectively in the event of a fraud attempt.

Frédéric Boutin is a lecturer and Coordinating Sergeant with the Sûreté du Québec, and a lecturer in the Department of Police Techniques at the Notre-Dame-de-Foy campus.

Marie-Eve Girard is Director of the IT Training Centre (CeFTI) at the University of Sherbrooke and a lecturer on the Master’s programme in cybersecurity.

A lecture at the Maison de la culture Maisonneuve, in partnership with the University of Sherbrooke and with the support of the Quebec Ministry of Economy, Innovation and Energy.
