Planting native trees and shrubs

Planting initiatives help to support natural regeneration and promote forest biodiversity, which has been disrupted by the presence of invasive alien species and habitat fragmentation. These measures form part of a comprehensive approach to restoring the natural habitats of Mount Royal.

Venue: Outside the Chalet du Mont-Royal, 1196 Voie Camillien-Houde, Montréal (Québec) H3H 1A1

Equipment and eligibility criteria:

– No prior knowledge is required to take part in these volunteering activities. They are supervised by the conservation team and always include an explanation of the objectives, techniques and safety instructions.
– Gloves, knee pads and the necessary tools will be provided on site.
– Closed-toe shoes must be worn, and long pants are strongly recommended.
– Participation is permitted from the age of 12. Those aged between 12 and 15 must be accompanied and supervised by an adult, whilst those aged 16 and over may take part without supervision.

The activity will be cancelled if the weather forecast is unfavourable.
