Exhibition | Greece of the Heroes: In the Days of Troy

The exhibition Greece of the Heroes: In the Time of Troy at the Pointe-à-Callière Museum offers a unique opportunity to trace the origins of the myths of The Iliad and The Odyssey and to discover the inner workings of this epic that shaped the Greek imagination and influenced numerous civilizations. Drawing on a remarkable selection of nearly 400 authentic artifacts from 28 Greek museums and archaeological sites, the exhibition takes visitors on a journey through the great tales of heroic figures and historical reality.

Throughout the exhibition, exceptional artifacts bring to life two major periods that shaped the legend of Troy and profoundly influenced Greek culture. The Bronze Age reveals a prosperous civilization, characterized by monumental architecture, craftsmanship and mastery of gold-smithing. Then comes the Iron Age, associated with the time of Homer: a world in transition, driven by the rise of new techniques and the passing down of mythical tales that would endure through the centuries.
