To bring to life the richness of Marcelle Gauvreau’s life and times, this book takes the form of an imagined diary, based on archive documents and previously unpublished interviews. It shines a light on a brilliant Quebec scientist who remained for too long in the shadow of her mentor and peers, and helps to restore her to her rightful place today. Above all, it shows us the role that Marcelle Gauvreau and so many other women played, through both grand gestures and painstaking labour, in the development of Quebec.
