Join the Ocean Networks Canada (ONC) team to learn about the biodiversity of the organisms in and around the Salish Sea on Canada’s west coast! Through a 45min virtual presentation, you will learn how to identify (ID) intertidal marine creatures that you might find at your local marine beach. We will also take you on a virtual adventure to the northeast pacific ocean to introduce you to some of the incredibly diverse creatures we are fortunate to be able to see because of ONC’s deep ocean observatories.

We would love for you to go to your own beach and test out your ID skills by joining the #backyardbio fun! Tweet pictures of the biodiversity of your local beach by tagging #backyardbio and #knowtheocean. For more information about the #backyardbio campaign, please visit https://www.backyardbio.net/

There are three ways for you to connect with us during Science Literacy Week:
-Watch for and retweet our @Ocean_Networks #backyardbio and #knowtheocean Twitter posts during Sep. 21-27
-Tweet the biodiversity of your local beach by tagging #backyardbio and #knowtheocean
-Middle school classes and/or families with middle school aged students can register to join one of two Zoom presentations.
