In this special (free) nationwide webinar you'll not only learn about planetary impacts, but also create a model planet surface and then make impact craters by dropping objects of different sizes and/or masses. Design your own inquiry by varying other parameters like drop height, surface materials, and more!
Dr. Gordon "Oz" Osinski from the Centre for Planetary Exploration (CPSX) at Western University will be on-hand to show images of impact craters on Earth, the Moon, and other planets. (Did you know that Canada has a LOT of craters?) We also want to discuss the things you're wondering about! Whether your questions are about the activity or planetary geology, Oz is ready for them!
Join us to perform this activity LIVE with other Canadian classes, coast-to-coast, & get answers to your questions! (Questions can be submitted live via webinar chat or emailed in advance to firstname.lastname@example.org.)
Detailed activity notes, instructions and student worksheets are available at http://www.pirweb.org/en/making-craters/.
