BMSC Live! What can we dredge up?

Online event

A live-streamed presentation from aboard the M/V Alta, aimed at sharing the rich biodiversity of the west coast marine environment. Watch as crew from the Bamfield Marine Sciences Centre operate a low-impact dredge in Barkley Sound, pulling up a different catch every time. You’ll get a front row seat while a naturalist sorts through the sediment and unearths an exciting diversity of underwater creatures. Don’t be afraid to ask questions throughout the show, participation is encouraged, and our naturalist can answer live.
We are using ZOOM and YouTube platforms. If the Zoom broadcast fills up (we only have 100 spots for now), please head to the YouTube channel. This show will also be recorded and saved to YouTube for future viewing in case you can’t catch us live.

Please note, this activity is scheduled as a live outdoor event. However, if Mother Nature has other plans and prevents the Alta from leaving the dock, we have a backup plan to examine previously caught invertebrates from the safety of the lab.
